Week 8

~ I’m kind of laughing at this whole instant dance thing. This is what social dances are all about. In fact they’re actually harder because there are some songs that are multiple rhythms and could be multiple dances.

~ ug how come Jennifer has never gone first?! WTF ABC?

Kyle and Lacy
– WTF is that dress
– NOT a true Viennese waltz!
– footwork is better but not much
– shoulders keep coming up
– not in hold
– lines are better
– It was okay, it wasn’t spectacular but it wasn’t horrile
Len: Liked it…
Bruno: Charmed by him. Liked that he went back and worked on stuff
Carrie Ann: Very elegant and like a fairytale
Score: 9, 9, 9 = 27. Didn’t think it was worth that
They get Good Golly Miss Molly for Jive

Jennifer and Derek
– Nice to see Joel
– looks like a little heavy footed
– feels slightly labored
– this is just boring.
– Derek is definitely out-dancing her
Len: it was good
Bruno: “Vintage Astaire and Rodgers” quickstep. Tiny misstep. A bit more body contact
Carrie Ann: Tiny mistake but was gorgeous
Score: 9, 9, 9 = 27
Song: Waiting for a Girl like You like Foreigner

~If it’s that serious, why the eff is she on the show?! UG, driving me bananas

Kurt and Anna
– good rise and fall
– good posture
– straighten those knees!
– much better on his lines!!!
– Much better!
Len: Nice seeing a big guy, graceful. Small technical things to work on but beautiful dance
Bruno: Very dashing. Needs to relax a little bit more.
Carrie Ann: Ken doll for mature people… Sees the effort.
Score: 8, 8, 8 = 24
Song: Hella Good by No Doubt

Bristol and Mark
– sharp flicks
– got the drama/character
– really lifeless in parts though..
– not as polished as some of the other AT’s
– ended off the music
– it was … blank faced
Len: the lifts were good, clean, but lacked intensity.
Bruno: Thought she was mean and moody. Lose the expression. Go in and out of a part.
Carrie Ann: That was the most intensity. Truly impressed with the character. Lacked energy in the legs
Score: 8, 8, 8 = 24
Song: Mas Que Nada

Brandy and Maks
– good posture/frame
– good rise and fall
– Only complaint is not pointing her feet
– whoever is singing this song is butchering it
– Very very good!!!
Len: Overwhelmed by the whole performance
Bruno: Very good interpretation of the song… Danced absolutely beautiful
Carrie Ann: Spellbound. Have to watch your neck. Relax your neck
Score: 9, 10, 10 = 29
Song: Teenage Dream – Katy Perry

Kyle and Lacy with Jive
– really crapy heel slide
– they definitely had the benefit of going first
– good energy
– Good flicks and kicks!
– Needs to be not so piegoned toed
– Needs a bit more hip action on those swivels
– good synch though!
Len: Came out and did well. Little more finesse but overall enjoyed it.
Bruno: Top of the league for creativity. Timing was really good
Carrie Ann: Good fun!
Score: 10, 9, 10 = 29 56/60 for the night

Jennifer and Derek
– needs more hip movement
– Brandy should take a note out of Jennifer’s book on her feet
– good rumba walks
– not a lot of connection
Len: Had good variations.
Bruno: sensual, sexy, classy. Flawless
Carrie Ann: Beautiful
Score: 10, 10, 10 – 30 57/60. While it was good I thought Brandy’s waltz was worth a perfect 30

~ That dance really showed how much of an amazing choreographer Derek is.

Kurt and Anna
– good trying on the hip action
– better hip action
– needs to remember his hands
– feet are horrible
– Good fun
– Good New Yorkers
– Need some more Cha Cha
Len: Coped well. Gotta straighten the legs
Bruno: Came out and let it loose. Went for it. Foot placement wasn’t perfect.
Carrie Ann: Nailed the musicality! Danced with sex appeal
Score: 8, 8, 8 = 24 48/60

Bristol and Mark
– She can shimmy
– Good playful for a moment
– now blank face
– No hip action
– good trying at the bounce
– Too much shimmying..
– Good try…
Len: Coped well with the timing changes. Needs more hip action
Bruno: There were parts that excellent and parts weren’t
Carrie Ann: Wasn’t musicality wasn’t there. Was rushing and wasn’t really there
Score: 7, 8, 9 = 23, 47/60

Brandy and Maks
– a little wild there…
– good hip action
– good cha chas
– needs to work on her lines there
– Decent, not perfect but decent
Len: Full of performance. Well done
Bruno: fabulous performance. Loved all of it
Carrie Ann: took too much time to get into it.
Score: 9, 9, 10 =28 57/60
