Acoustic night

~ Not sure how I feel about “acoustic” night. I hope it works better than I have it going in my mind
~ Glad they’re using a real piano!
~ Go Dmitry!

Kurt and Anna
– OH God, get over yourself
– Jonathan’s expressions LOL
– LoL so not a rumba song
– This is way too fast
– Decent hip action
– Needs to finish his lines much better
– His basic steps kind of suck
– Seems kind of hyper
– Over exaggerates his hips and looks spastic
Len: laterally very nice hip action but pigeon toed. Needs work on the posture. Pitched the romantic side just right
Bruno: Basically… I think he’s trying to saying he needs ballet training? Romantic was “brother and sisters”
Carrie Ann: loved the performance. Had trust and intimacy. Good balance between partner and audience. Musicality was a hair off
Score: Technique: 5, 5, 5 = 15
Performance: 7, 6, 6 = 19
Total: 34

Brandy and Maks
– Point those toes!!! UG it’s driving me nuts
– Little hip action
– I hate that “dress” it’s distracting
– Almost no hip action
– Lack of basic rumba
Bruno: Loving the mood. Played it well. Need works on her hands. Work on hip action
Carrie Ann: Performance was fully committed. Little more strength in legs.
Len: Technique was good. Did have basic step. A little bit hot and spicy for his taste
Score: Technical: 7, 8, 7 = 22
Performance: 9, 8, 9 = 26 Did not deserve 9s
Total: 48

Rick and Cheryl
– Good character
– Hate that drop into splits
– Posture could use just a bit more work
– He should be in different shoes. Those look weird
– Nice flicks
– Feels a little conservative
– Interesting ending
Carrie Ann: felt one dimensional. Didn’t feel the passion. Felt very concentrated
Len: thought the lifts were excellent and suited the dance. Legs could have been crisper and sharper
Bruno: Came out great and didn’t have the musicality as it could have been
Score: Technical: 6, 7, 6 = 19
Performance: 6, 7, 7 = 20
Total: 39

~ FOREVER TANGO!!!

Kyle and Lacey
– WTF Lacey with that dress. We’re not in the 80s anymore
– WTF song? This is an effin’ West coast not a rumba!
– Better footwork from Kyle
– Movements seem very stunted and like “movement” huge pause “movement” and not a flow
– No hip action
– Not really liking that either
Len: footwork was much better. Had a staccato feel, didn’t flow. Performance was excellent
Bruno: Played well. Had moments of fluidity but really lacked true flow
Carrie Ann: liked the way they toned the performance. Paid more attention to footwork but lost track of upper body
Score: Technical: 6, 6, 6 = 18
Performance: 8, 7, 7= 22
Total: 40

~ WTF why do you want to do tangos to rock?! It doesn’t effin’ work

Mike and Karina
– Wow, made that lift
– Interesting song…
– I wish he would look up… it looks all the time like he’s looking at her boobs
– He’s trying that’s for sure
– A little pigeon toed
– His steps could be more precise
– Lost the footwork there
– Whoops, missed that ending
Bruno: was a terrible mess. Couldn’t get into the performance
Carrie Ann: Saw true improvement. Intensity. Go back to the basic
Len: it was consistent. It was bad throughout. Congrats to Karina.
Score: Technical: 4, 5, 4 = 12
Performance: 6, 5, 5 = 16
Total: 28

Florence and Corky
– My guess it’s going to Clois all over again
– WTF? Seriously not a rumba song
– This is just wrong. I’m seriously sickened
– No hip movement
– This is gross…
– Way to fast.
– Footwork is terrible
– I’m not even watching. This is just wrong.
It’s not even funny anymore
Carrie Ann: definitely proved that age but went a little too far and uncomfortable
Len: much better than I expected.
Bruno: Doesn’t want to make of it. Technique was left a lot to be desired. Seen better
Score: Technical: 6, 6, 5 = 17 (no way. Way too much)
Performance: 6, 6, 6 = 18 (again way to high)
Total: 35

Jennifer and Derek
– Love the stretch
– Flicks could be just a hair sharper
– Great lunge
– Great character
– Great fan steps
– Good pointing of the toes
– Love the ending
Len: Combined excellent technique and character. Good combo. Well done
Bruno: delight. Fantastic, very technical. Good musicality
Carrie Ann: precision and passion incredible
Technical: 9, 9, 9 = 27
Performance: 10, 9, 10 = 29
Total: 56

Bristol and Mark
– WTF with fast rumbas… this is a Bolero!
– Trying with hips
– Still feels reserved
– Decent rumba walks
– Oh whoops, a little lift there
– Wow, kind of surprised Sarah’s there
Bruno: technically was clean but moves never go anywhere. Needs performance helps
Carrie Ann: Can create really picturesque moves. But there’s no effort. Needs much more intensity
Len: Mark is too much of a distraction. More We and less me. Lack of conviction
Technical: 6, 6, 6 = 18
Performance: 4, 5, 5 = 14
Total: 32

~ I’m sick of Brook asking how the low scores feel.

Audrina and Tony
– WTF song?!
– Good sharp flicks
– Good character
– Needs to point the toes
– Very good ending
Carrie Ann: enjoyed that but needs to extend feet at ankles. Little sloppy on the lifts. Good performances
Len: clean, clear, lifts were good. Routine was cleaver. Didn’t get transported though.
Bruno: performances was a bit like the ice clean. Didn’t have the drive. Didn’t point the feet. Wasn’t too sharp
Technical: 8, 8, 8 = 24
Performance: 8, 7, 7 = 22
Total: 46
