Week 5 recap

Movie night!!!

Nicey and Louis
– not sure how La Bamba is going to be a jive…
– wow… she’s really slow
– her flicks and kicks aren’t sharp…
– She’s having fun with it though
– Lost the routine a bit there
– This is kind of a hot mess
– Louis looks amazing though!
– Nice try at swivels!
Len: Showed personality into the dance which was great, The dance was soft and sloppy and not enough bounce in the feet. Approach to the dance was great!
Bruno: Lots of stuff going on upstairs. Dance wasn’t accurate or sharpness. Louis mentions Nicey didn’t go wrong but he did.
Carrie Ann: Can shimmy well! The bottom wasn’t great but saw that she was having fun
Score: 6, 6, 6 = 18

Chad and Cheryl
– What was that sign all about?
– This is kind of slow for a quickstep…
– nice basic Charleston there
– posture is still an issue
– his footwork there was sloop
– Good in staying in frame for the whole dance!
Bruno: Went for too much energy and frame was bad
Carrie Ann: Was very uneven and very lack of body contact
Len: Posture was better than foxtrot. Upper body wasn’t great. Overall it was pretty good
Score: 6, 6, 6 = 18

Erin and Maks
– LOL “You Stubborn Russian”
– this is really really slow?
– Needs to look up
– Needs to point her toes!
– Kicks are much sharper than Nicey’s
– eh… kind of boring
Carrie Ann: Liked it. Delivered the story. But hard to watch the ankles. Looked like she was ahead of the beat
Len: Wasn’t sure about it. Enjoyed it and liked that she took on the tough routine. Kept up with the music well
Bruno: Got the magic, Best timing even. Didn’t go wrong once (um yes she did…)
Score: 7, 7, 8 = 22

Jake and Chelsie
– Do not need to see that
– That was too much
– Rushed those New Yorkers
– He’s leaning over…
– Lack of basic cha Cha..
– No hip movements
Len: You really try and were having fun. Had a small mistake
Bruno: Your energy is incredible. One of your best performance. Cheeky and Funny!
Carrie Ann: Loved it!
Score: 8, 7, 8 = 23

Pam and Damian
– Len’s going to hate this…
– posture is good!
– It’s a little slow…
– Missed that slide..
– That over the table and chairs was cool!
– The slow didn’t really help that dance…
Bruno: Characterization is spot on! In Character through the whole dance. Good posture and precise. Doing a great job.
Carrie Ann: Posture is great, Characterization is great. Hold wasn’t quite right…
Len: Can’t stand the props.. Thought the balance was wrong but the bit of dancing they did was good.
Score: 7, 6, 8 = 21

Kate and Tony
– She looks so unsure of herself out there…
– No heel-toe. Just steps
– that counter-check was so sad
– That was… um… horrible
Carrie Ann: “some sort of grace developing” but, not really a formed move. Was very bland
Len: was neat and precise. Wasn’t really a dance but a stroll. Had an elegance.
Bruno: Very catatonic. Every thing has regressed. Listen to the judges and go on it.
Score: 5, 5, 5 = 15

Nicole and Derek
– this song is a little fast for a tango
– movements are precise
– That ending was bad
– Needs to point her toes!
Len: “You’re Best dance” and best dance of the season so far”
Bruno: The only thing I got out of his comments was perfection
Carrie Ann: lines, shapes, character were great. “Beautiful”
Score: 10, 9, 10 = 29 That wasn’t perfect…

Evan and Anna
– THANK YOU ANNA for saying that! “Skating is so very different from dancing”
– Good hip action
– Good lines
– This is faster than normal…
– The main problem with that was lack connection
Bruno: Lines are great and lyricist was amazing. Hips are getting better.
Carrie Ann: Tender sophistication. Movement was generating the emotion. Very fluid hip action
Len: great musicality, great job.
Score: 9, 9, 9 = 27
