Innovative

Elana Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze’s show program at the 1998 Olympics was just absolutely breath-taking. Set to fast paced music (to me a rarity in Figure Skating), “Barcelona” by John Tesh (whom interestingly enough, was a long time commentator for gymnastics and whom many are thinking should come back to it), their first lift (starts at :26) was extremely creative for their time, not to mention difficult! As Scott Hamilton mentions, at this point, Elana and Anton have only been together less than two years and for them to make such a huge splash (they won the Silver) was absolutely incredible. Another incredible move, a combination hydroplane (Anton) and Spiral (Elana) move that just looks really cool, starts at 1:25.
